A loving and gracious lady passed away on Monday, Dec 11, 2017, at age 94. Dorene was a resident of Clark Retirement Community. Robert A. Marsh, her husband of 71 years, pre-deceased Dorene by two years. She will be greatly missed by son David Wayne (Susan) Marsh of Grand Rapids, and daughter Diane Sue Laaksonen, granddaughter Hanna Korpi (Malachy), great-granddaughter Ariel Korpi, and great-grandson Theodore Korpi, all of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorene graduated from her hometown Charlotte High School and continued her education at Cleary College in Ypsilanti, MI, studying to be a medical secretary. Her career included employment at The Michigan Council of Defense, Michigan Department of Health, Hickam Field in Oahu, Hawaii, and Ramona Medical Center in East Grand Rapids.

Dorene had an outgoing personality that won her many friends. She enjoyed entertaining and social events, and continued to take part in many activities at Clark home. She loved music, and was a talented singer and pianist/organist. She looked forward to each golf season and was a member of the Grand Rapids Women’s Metropolitan League for 35 years. Other hobbies include tennis, sewing, reading, and bridge club.

Dorene and Bob were longtime members of South Congregational Church in Grand Rapids, and later attended Cornerstone Methodist in Caledonia.

A Memorial Service will take place at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the Clark Chapel at 1551 Franklin Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
