George Louis LaVoie II aged 66 passed away peacefully on January 29, 2018. George was preceded in death by his father, George L. LaVoie Sr., father-in-law, Richard Bennett, and brother-in-law Jerry Olive.
George is survived by his wife Betsy; sons, Ryan and Adam LaVoie; grandchildren Evelynn and Jackson LaVoie; mother, Rita Lavoie; siblings Julianne (John) Jaksa, Denise (Blair) Dame, John (Martha) LaVoie, Thomas (Tish) LaVoie, Daniel (Nancy) LaVoie, Sarah LaVoie, Stephen (Donna) LaVoie, Mary (Ray) LaVoie and Joseph LaVoie.
A social and active man who loved his family, George liked nothing more than baking cookies with his grandchildren, a legacy passed on by his own father. George was passionate about his involvement with Little League and girls softball as an umpire. He was known as the "Double Bubble Ump". His family and friends will always remember him for his kind heart and keen sense of humor.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow at Central Christian Church, 2525 Leonard NE. Pastor John Belger to officiate. Visitation with family and friends at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a fund for his grandchildren's education has been set up. Contributions can be sent to Central Christian Church with the memo George LaVoie Fund.
