Jim Wildey, age 80, of Grand Rapids passed away 1/17/18 peacefully at home.  He is survived by his loving wife Susan of nearly 60 years, son Doug (Cindy), daughters Lynn (Scott) Vander Ark and Jane (John) Halpin, grandchildren Eric (Mikhila), Brian and Kevin Wildey, Sidney (Casey) Provost and Hannah VanderArk, Emily, Jack and Celia Halpin, great grandsons Arlo Wildey and Issac Provost and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Menlo and Edna, brother Alger and sister Lois Martin.

Retired from Michigan Bell for 30 years, he thoroughly enjoyed maintaining his property and spending countless hours in his workshop, formerly his childhood home. Jim’s handyman skills were second to none and he was happy to share his many talents with his children and grandchildren. He was a loyal friend to many, enjoying golf, bowling, weekend trips and long lunches. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Susie Snyder, in 1958. Their love, admiration and respect for each other was abundantly evident and an inspiration to all who knew them.

His personal request was to forgo memorial services. His family will celebrate his life in private with close friends. Jim loved animals, especially dogs, he would have appreciated your donation to the West Michigan Humane Society in lieu of flowers.

Jim Wildey, the definition of strength, courage and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
