Barbara Mattix Obituary

After a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Barbara Mattix was welcomed in the loving arms of her Savior on February 12, 2018.

She passed away at Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by family and at peace. Barb was born and raised in Grand Rapids and a graduate of Union High School. She worked over 40 years at Knape & Vogt Manufacturing in a variety of roles. Barb was a loved member of Third Reformed Church and served in many ways including Community Life meals and as a mentor for Kids Hope at East Leonard Elementary School.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents Velma and Kenneth Ford, and brother Michael Ford. She is survived by her siblings Robert (Vicky) Sandoval; Patricia (Dave) Minnema; Mary (Ronald) Widmayer; Timothy (Marsha) Ford; Robert (Mary) Ford; Lori Williams; Ellen Ford, her children Gordon (Stacy) Mattix; Bill (Kathy) Mattix; Sarah (Daniel) Morehouse, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 24th at Third Reformed Church (2060 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503) with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Kids Food Basket. Barb will be missed and remembered for her faithful service to others.
