Barbara Jeane Peters, nee Sousley, age 90 of Wyoming passed from this life Jan. 4. 2020.
Barbara was born April 17, 1929 in Grand Rapids, MI, the eldest of six children, to Ora and Martha Sousley. She grew up in Grandville and graduated from Grandville High School. Barbara was a former owner of Pete's Place in Byron Center and a member of the American Legion, Roger B. Chaffee Post 154. Mom was always known for her wonderful food and we always knew there would be enough to feed an army. She touched many lives, reaching out to see if others needed help and she never forgot a birthday. Many will miss that card or phone call of birthday wishes.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; sisters in law, Rosemary Sousley, Marcia Sousley, and brother in law Robert Minch.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Robert Peters, Patricia and Peter Schipper and Shari and David Fritsma, and daughter in law Carol Peters. The lights of her life were her grandchildren; Karen and Christopher Kladder, Christine and Daniel Dykstra, Ryan and Katherine Peters, Justin and Charity Schipper, Travis and Christina Fritsma and Jared Fritsma, along with great grandchildren, Averie, Braedyn and Elise Dykstra, Allison, Ella and Brynn Peters and Devin and Trevor Kladder. She will also be missed by her siblings Roger Sousley, Jack and Nancy Sousley, Richard Sousley, Judy and Douglas Hanlon, Susan Minch and many nieces and nephews.
Interment has taken place at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 at 1 pm. The family will greet friends one hour prior at American Legion Roger B. Chaffee Post 154, 2327 Byron Center Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI 49519.
