Gloria Betsy (Denton) Nelson

Gloria Betsy Nelson nee Denton passed away on July 31, 2018, she was 89 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Thomas Nelson, brother Ted Denton, sisters Gracia Denton and Nancy Denton-Eggertson. Gloria is survived by three sons Thomas Jr. (Georga), Carl (Naomi) and Ted (Jill); three grandsons Tyler (Nikki), Griffin (Charity) and Justin; sister-in-law Jean Denton; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to being a proud mom of and raising three boys with her husband Tom, as well as celebrating the accomplishments of her three grandsons, Gloria was an active member of Fountain Street Church for many years, lending her angelic voice to the church’s choir and performing many solos to the delight of her audience. She was a fierce supporter of all Detroit teams, but especially her beloved Tigers, actively watching and participating in their ups and downs over her many years of fandom.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Fountain Street Church, 24 Fountain Street NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fountain Street Church in Gloria’s memory.
