Harvey Hasart Obituary

Harvey Hasart, age 68, of Eau Claire passed away July 2, 2018 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, in Grand Rapids Michigan.

Harvey was born June 21, 1950 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Jacob and Carrie Hasart. His family lived on a farm in rural Eau Claire where he grew up. He graduated from Memorial High School. He married Jan Phillips, January 1971; they later divorced.

Harvey was a dedicated son, father and grandfather, and took great joy watching his children and grandchildren’s many activities. He enjoyed hunting trips to South Dakota with relatives. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He remained close to his siblings his entire life and treasured the time spent at reunions, holidays, and special events.

Harvey began working for Max Phillips & Sons scrap yard soon after graduating from high school, he held a variety of jobs though out the years.  He retired from 3M in 2016 and moved to Michigan after retiring.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed many interests including gardening and making jams to share with friends and family.  He enjoyed baking and loved to cook and try new foods.  Playing golf with his friend Deb, brother LaVern and grandson Gavin was one of his favorite past times the last few years.  He also enjoyed viewing wildlife and birds. 

Harvey is survived by two children, Heather Manternach of Bernard, Iowa, and Jacob (Sara) Hasart of Chippewa Falls, WI, grandchildren Gavin Manternach, Anna Manternach, Ethan Normand, Ella and Kyro Hasart, Donna Hasart and Mackinzie Schutz;  Ex-wife Jan Hasart, Special friend Deb Bisel; siblings Neva Robbins, Harold (Sherry) Hasart, Ina (George) Myers, Vera (Larry) Kittilstad, Doris Valerio, Irma (Larry) Shepler, LaVern (Marge) Hasart, Diane (Tom) Bibeau. Stepbrothers Dale (Marilyn) Soden, David Soden and stepsister Donna Polus; and many nieces and nephews.

Harvey is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dean Hasart, Leslie Hasart, and Alvin Hasart and sister Ethel Nelson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Spectrum Health Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion for the loving and kind care and support Harvey received over the past several months.  A special thanks to Deb Bisel for being at his side throughout his treatments.

A memorial service will take place at Truax United  Church of Christ, 1008 50th St, Eau Claire, WI 54703. Pastor David Stratton will officiate. Committal service will take place at the Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington following a luncheon at church. Details will be announced in the coming days. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Harvey's name to Spectrum Health Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion
