Laura Jane Seestadt, aged 93, passed away on September 16th, 2017 in Grand Rapids. Laura was born on November 11th, 1923 in West Virginia. She made her way to Michigan, married, and had three children. The family moved throughout Michigan when they finally settled in the Detroit area. She lived in Novi for many years up until the last few years when she moved to Grand Rapids to be closer to family. Laura worked in the insurance field and loved her work. She even worked for a small insurance company in her late 80’s. Laura was also a lover of travel. She traveled to all 7 continents and was a member of the Nomads travel group. She had a zest for life and loved shopping, gambling, and playing tennis. While enjoying all these things she had a love for animals and always had a dog by her side. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Mace, sister, Sylvia “Peg” Perreault, daughter, Suzanne Mace, son-in-law, Raymond Bres, and her former husband, Harold Seestadt and is survived by her daughter, Judy Bres, and son, Ron (Robin) Kuhn; grandchildren, Tom (Lisa) Bres, Mike Bres, Jennifer (Rob) LaHaie, Jessica (Isaiah) Aleman, Jaime Kuhn, Etta (Jack) Jannett, James Sweeney, Avi Waldman, Esther Waldman, Shayna Waldman, Zipporah Waldman, along with 12 great grandchildren and her wonderful dog, Mandy. A Memorial service will be held Monday, September 25th at 5:00 pm at Faith United Methodist Church, 2600 7th St. NW Grand Rapids, MI. Pastor Sherri Swanson, presiding. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her honor to Faith Hospice.
