Lauri (Laura) Ann Brower: January 16, 1941 – January 15, 2019
Lauri left this earth peacefully to join her savior late in the night on January 15, after a ferocious fight against cancer and related illness. Lauri was on the eve of her 78th birthday at the time of her passing, to which her husband Roger lovingly assures, “she just never wanted to get old.”
Originally from Northville, MI, Lauri was a bright and tenacious woman, a vibrant collection of stories, experiences, and acts of service that extended throughout her life. Whether she was using her talents to create art, including making blankets and cards for loved ones and to donate, crafting a delicious meal to share, telling stories, or simply sharing her light, her warmth made an impact on everyone she crossed paths with.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Hurd Sutherland, sister Dottie, and several brothers and sisters in law. She is survived by her sister Susan and brother Pete, loving husband Roger, and children Steven, David, Douglas, and Janice Brower. Lauri’s heart had so much love to give, she often “adopted” grandchildren into the family for the long term; due to this, she is survived by more grandchildren than we can reasonably count, and several young great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, great-nieces and nephews, innumerable close friends and loved ones, and one spunky parrot named Corkee.
A gathering for fellowship and a celebration of Lauri’s life will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 11 AM at New Community Church, 2340 Dean Lake Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family has humbly requested any donations be made directly to Roger for end of life expenses, or via the PayPal money pool: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8bsdowTid0
