Lenora Wing Obituary

Lenora “Lee” Wing (Rennie) Age 86 of Byron Center Manor, (formerly of Belmont and Grand Rapids, MI) Arrived in her Heavenly home on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, where she was Welcomed by her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband. She was a loving Wife of 40 years, Mother of 5, Grandmother of 11, Great-Grandmother of 15, with another Very special arrival due in December.

Lenora was the youngest of 3 children born to Clyde and Dorothy Rennie on December 19, 1932 in their home on Sweet Street in GR. Lenora married Adney Frank Wing on July 22, 1951, and they soon started raising their family.  They built a home and moved to Belmont in 1959, settled in and became members of North Kent Presbyterian Church where they both sang in the choir.

Both of the Wing parents loved to host gatherings, and encouraged having friends over. Pool parties were common for all ages to enjoy at their welcoming Belmont home. They were active in their children’s lives and in their community. She was in the PTA, a Campfire Girls leader and Cub Scouts Den Mother, they both were very involved Rockford band parents, and much more.  Lenora loved and cared for her beautiful rock gardens, she enjoyed reading and knitting, and she was instrumental in starting and running the Saturday afternoon family movie events at Belmont Elementary, raising extra funds for the school. She helped bring in and worked the summer fluoride treatment program, and also loved being the ‘Playground Lady’ for years while her children were there. Being the social butterfly that she had Always been, becoming an Avon lady was an easy and fun transition for her after life on the playground.

The Wing’s moved back to Grand Rapids in 1980, and after all of their 5 children were grown and gone, they began their journey of becoming pretty amazing Foster parents to many special needs children over the years, they made a positive difference in so many lives. They were good at it and enjoyed it so much that they then bought and ran an adult foster home with special needs residents there as well. “Frank and Lee” (as the foster kids and the foster adults called them) fell in love with and got a little place at ’Sandy Pines’ following their only son’s lead, where so many great memories were made over the years, and most of their children joined the park as well.

Lenora was preceded in death by her beloved Adney in April 1992 at age 61. She was also preceded in death by her Grandson Artie Holden in 2009, Great-Grandson Noah Palczewski in 2017, Son in law Leroy “Rescue Roy” Roedema on 11/8/19, her Brother in law James Sharp and cherished Sister Jean Sharp in March 2019, Sister in law JoAnn Rennie, Very special friend/singing and travel companion Wendell Behrens, lifelong Best friend and former roommate at Heather Hills Shirley (Fish) Norton, “Nephew” Kevin Fish in April 2019, and two sweet Foster Son’s, Austin and Kenny.

Lenora is survived by her children; Susan Roedema, Judy (Brian) Kleeves, A. Frank (Genny) Wing, Monica (Fred) DuVerneay and Lorrie (Bob) Reminga.  Grandchildren; Becky (Todd) Wildeboer, Chad (Laurie) Roedema, Cami (Neil) White, Lindsey (Jevon) Brun, Jacob (Jamie) DuVerneay, Jesse DuVerneay & Alana Saindon, Joshua (Emily) DuVerneay, Meggan (Andrew) Palczewski, Luke Aaron & Mara Gericke, and Nickolas Aaron.  Great-Grandchildren; Sydney, Morgan, Ben & Taylor Wildeboer, Tara & Evan Roedema, Kelsi & Bryn White, Aiden Holden, and arriving soon- sweet baby Zeke Brun, Izze DuVerneay, Mara Saindon, Mady, Jessalyn & Sawyer DuVerneay, and Madeline Palczewski.

Lenora is also survived by her big Brother Clyde Rennie, Many nieces, nephews, younger cousins, life long friend Norma Smith, her Best friend (& suite mate) Wilma Mohrig at Byron Center Manor, and foster daughter Teresa Krisel. Thank you to the Staff and Residents at BCM that loved our Mom; especially to those that lovingly cared for her in her final days. We’ve become rather attached and fond of some special few that know who they are.

Lenora has been cremated per her wishes. She was proud to know that she would be joining Adney at beautiful Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI- and in the same columbarium wall as her dear friend Shirley (Fish) Norton and her husband Dave.

When Lenora entered a room, it became brighter. She was a beautiful soul, with a positive attitude, a smile on her face, and a song in both her heart and on her lips. She was a loyal and true lady, who loved unconditionally, and we are so blessed that she was ours. She especially loved her Grands and Great-Grands to the moon and back, as they were her sunshine.  She will be forever loved, cherished and sorely missed. This is Not goodbye, If we belong to Jesus, and we hold onto His promises it is merely “See ya Soon Momma Wing”.
