Lorena Jo Wright “Tater” (Patch) died peacefully at Butterworth Hospital on October 17, 2019 in Grand Rapids MI at the young age of 53.
Lorena is survived by her fiancée/soulmate Russell Wilkins (Giant), Her son and daughter in law David and Heather Wright, Her daughter Asia Butler A.K.A Krista Wright, Daughter Amber VanWagner and son in law Brad Wilson, and the many other children that she took in as her own and called her mom, Nephew Jay Allerding, Her lifelong Friend/Roommate Perry Service. Her Grandsons Dillen Jervis Wright, Devon Buckowing and Granddaughters Brianna Lynn wright and Destiny Buckowing. Her brothers David Patch, Rick Patch, Loren Smith (peanut), Robert Smith and JR. Her sister Christine Moore. Lorena is preceded in death by Her Father Loren Smith, her Mother Barbara Patch (smith), her ex- Husband of 30 years Daniel Jay Wright and her first grand son Dion Jay Wright.
Lorena was born on July 12, 1966 in Hastings, Michigan to Barbara Patch and Loren Smith. She graduated from Hastings High School. Lorena also attended the University of Phoenix and got her associates degree in business management. Lorena loved working in many different places as long as it was customer service as her main goal in life was to make people smile.
Lorena loved every aspect of life! She loved doing crafts which she taught to her kids and grandkids. She loved to travel where ever the wind took her and loved doing what she called her "firsties" She got on a plane for the first time, she was able to go to Florida with her giant and stick her toes in the ocean as she said she wanted to her entire life, and so much more. She was a True hippie at heart! Her passion was to live life to the fullest regardless of what the world thought. Lorena was one who loved musical festivals of any kind including hippie fest, cow pie and Wheatland and who was passionate about making the world a beautiful place with her smile and never ending love for everyone. She often volunteered at Charlton Park as a guide in Hastings, Michigan
A celebration of life ceremony is scheduled for Saturday October 26, 2019 at 2776 Woodruff RD (Russell’s house). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lorena’s life. We will be collecting donations at the celebration of life to contribute to the cost of her cremation and burial services.
