Mable Caroline Martin

Mable Caroline Martin went to be with her Lord and Savior, on September 30, 2019 at the age of 94.  Mable resided at St Ann’s Home, in Grand Rapids, MI., where she passed, surrounded by her loving children.

She was born in Gratiot County, Michigan to Cecil and Beulah Martin on April 9, 1925.  Mable survived her two brothers Duane & Donald Martin.  She has four surviving children Barbara Miller, Yvonne (Dennis) Jakubowski, Robert Hole and Jerry Martin.  She was a wonderful, loving Grandmother to her six grand children David (Cori) Miller, Rick (Laura) Miller, Brian (Brenda) Geib, Michelle (Rick) Hazen, Robert (Laura) Hole and Ryan (Lindsey) Hole. Mable also has 15 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grand children.

Mable worked at Western Michigan University for 25 years as one of their best custodians ever!  She loved to travel and saw much of the United States with her children and the Senior Group in Plainwell, MI.

She especially loved her trip to Hearst Castle in California with her daughters, after having read much about it and the Hearst family over the years.  She was also happy to visit Graceland because she loved Elvis and his music so much.

One of Mable’s favorite things to do was play the card game Skipbo.  And she was a challenge to beat, even at the age of 94.

She loved country music and hymns, which she listened to in her room all the time at St. Ann’s Home.  She also attended their many music activities.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed biographies and learning about the lives of other people.  She collected many dolls of little children over the years and considered them her family.  She also had a love of cats, especially Abyssinians.  They were great company and entertainment for her.

She formed many attachments at St. Ann’s Home with her caretakers.  The family is grateful for all their love and care.

We know Mable is happy now, in Heaven, with Jesus and finally able to give her Mom a hug.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday October 11,2019 at 11:00a.m. at Remembrance Church. 4575 Remembrance Rd. N.W. Grand Rapids, MI. 49534
