Marcia J. Griffith, aged 74 of Grand Rapids died November 30, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Griffith in 2003, her stillborn daughter, Yvonne and brother, Larry Haveman.

Marcia is survived by two daughters, Laura (Doug) Otte, Prudence (Brian) Warren; 5 grandchildren, Hayley (significant other, Charles) Stengel, Bryan Stengel, Lucan Hubbart, Alan Otte (significant other Danielle), Ashley (Kevin) Smiley; sister, Cheryl Van’t Hof; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marcia was a long time waitress at Bono’s Restaurant

A private family service will be held, hosted by her sister, Cheryl.

Marcia Griffith was an avid quilter, crocheted and knitted, and was a writer, and teller, of many short stories (never published) that delighted her friends. She considered herself a Pagan, and loved bawdy, sarcastic humor and was always had a raucous laugh that everyone instantly recognized even when she was out of sight. Marcia loved to drink and play cards with her husband and friends, and worked many different customer service related jobs. Marcia was quick with her tongue, sometimes to her own detriment, but she truly did love her children and grandchildren.  She was taken care of the last 5 years by her daughter Prudence, and was suffering through a lot of physical ailments and multiple surgeries, and then she was diagnosed with Cholangiocarinoma (Bile Duct Cancer) that ultimately put her into Hospice a week before she died.  One of her favorite book series was ‘Outlander’, and Marcia was hoping to live long enough to read the authors newest book that’s due to come out.  She spoke at the end of her life about not wanting to go and leave, and she was reminded that both Jerry and Marcia raised strong daughters who can take care of themselves, and will always take care of her grandchildren as well. This seemed to put her at ease and she died a few days later. She will be missed.
