Rico passed on to his Heavenly home on Monday, August 6.
Rico was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to the states to attend Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. After graduation he was a high school science teacher for several years. He then attended Kettering College in Ohio and graduated from the Physician Assistant Program. After working for a short time at an Ophthalmology office in Ohio, Rico moved to Grand Rapids, MI to work at Grand Rapids Ophthalmology. He also taught classes at Western Michigan University and worked in the Physician Assistant program at Grand Valley State University.
Participating in sports brought joy to Rico, especially volleyball and cycling. He traveled quite a bit including memorable trips with his beloved college professor, Dr. Clarence Harms, and three medical mission trips to Jamaica.
He is survived by his two sons, Jordan and Lucas, and their mother, Debra Brooks; his sister, Maggie (Pedro); nephew J.R, (Sara); and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Orchard View Church of God, 2777 Leffingwell Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
