Sherry Lynn (Smith) Boelens

August 26, 1955 ~ December 16, 2018 (age 63)

Sherry Lynn Boelens, age 63, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 3:16 pm, at Spectrum Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born in Grand Rapids, on August 26, 1955 to her late parents Marjorie Marks and Richard Smith.

She grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she attended Northview High School. In school, she had many friends, was a member of the pep club and was voted best dresser. Later she went on to get her LPN nursing degree. Sherry had a special bond with her younger sister, Lori Roguska. Growing up they loved to spend time at family cottages in Port Sheldon and Sugar Island Michigan. The two of them created everlasting memories during these times. Sherry had a love for family, friends, gardening, the sun, baking, cooking, dogs, beaded jewelry, being a nurse and anything outdoors. She was a compassionate mother, wife, grandmother, friend, sister and nurse who would do anything for any one. On March 16, 1976 Sherry had a son, Lee Alan Bissonette, her first pride and joy. She raised him as a single mom until the best day of her life, October 9, 1986. It was on this day that she married Timothy W. Boelens, the love of her life, her everything.  Sherry and Tim had a daughter, Ashley Marie Boelens on August 23, 1987, her second pride and joy. They raised their children on Brower lake in Rockford and later bought property and built a home in Belding, Michigan. As a family they loved to take family fishing vacations all over Michigan and Canada. Sherry was an exceptional mother and wife who deeply loved her children and husband. Sherry and Tim had an amazing life together. They loved to travel and enjoy God’s creation. In 32 years of marriage they made so many amazing memories to cherish for a lifetime. They loved to camp, hunt, walleye fish and travel to Michigan’s upper peninsula and Yellowstone National Park.

Sherry was a nurse for 35 years. She loved her profession and got great satisfaction from being able to help others. She also had an amazing sense of humor and a competitive side - she didn’t like to lose at anything! Her granddaughters were extremely special to her, Kenna bug and stinker, thankfully she passed on some of her baking tips to them.

Sherry is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, Timothy W. Boelens; son and daughter-in-law, Lee Alan Bissonette and Lindsey Jo Bissonette; daughter, Ashley Marie Boelens; Sister, Lori Roguska; grandchildren, Gracyn and Mackenna Bissonette; niece and nephew, Braddric and Rose Roguska; cousins, Connie Doty and Dawn Hanlon; and many brother and sister-in-law’s. She was a preceded in death by her very special niece Lea Roguska.

There will be a celebration of life get together in 2019.
