Stanley Noteboom

Stanley (Stan) Noteboom, 82, of Cascade passed away suddenly Friday February 8, 2019.

He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Barbara of 55 years. Together they raised two children, Christopher Noteboom and Michelle Noteboom (Frederic Forte). He was so proud of his two little grandsons, Ansel and Milan Forte, and loved playing with them. Stan will be deeply missed by his brother Wendell (Judy) Noteboom, his two sisters Doris Markus, Clarice (Bob) Devries, brother-in-law Carlyle Pheifer, sisters-in-law Lois (Richard) Johnson, Janet Podbregar, many nieces, nephews and good friends, including his close friend of 55 years, Brian Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerrit and Cora (Streelman) Noteboom and sisters Viola VanderTuin and Helen Pheifer.

Stan was born and raised in South Dakota before moving to Michigan to attend Calvin College. After a brief career in teaching, he pursued what he loved most: meeting and talking to people, which he turned into a lifelong career as a sales representative.

Stan was a gentle, playful, curious, funny, helpful, kind and loving man. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, attending the symphony and theater, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He served his church community well as a devoted Stephens Minister for several years. 

There will be a memorial service to remember Stan and celebrate his life on Tuesday February 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM held at First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton St. E. Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503. The family will greet friends at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions in Stan's name to their favorite charity.
