Thomas (Tommy) Michael Munger

Thomas (Tommy) Michael Munger passed away on Thursday February 15, 2018 surrounded by his family and close friends. Tom was born on September 15, 1970 in Grand Rapids Michigan to David and Toni Munger. After spending most of his life in Grand Rapids, Tom moved to Ionia five years ago where he was living at the time of his death.    

Tom was well known to many as a fun loving crazy guy who always looked for his next adventure. He had a great sense of humor and he often had iconic nicknames and jokes with those he was close to.  He left a mark on each person he developed a relationship with that was unique and undeniable.  In his free time, Tom loved to fish and spend time with his girlfriend, family and friends as well as his dog Charlie. He took great pride in helping others and was always willing to lend a hand when needed.  There are so many people that have great stories to tell about their times with Tom and he was a special person to many. Underneath his big personality, Tom also had a caring heart and he was fiercely protective of those that he considered his closest friends and family.    

Tom is survived by his daughters, Samantha and Nicole Munger and their mother - Tom’s close personal friend, Susie Sapilewski, as well as his daughter Raeanna Mongar. Tom leaves behind his girlfriend of five years, Michelle Moose Kelley and her children, Courtney, Dela, Keegan and Rhyleigh. Tom is also survived by his father David Munger Sr. (Ruth) and brothers David Munger Jr. (Lori), Robert Munger, Brian (Cindy) Munger, sister Wendy Olin and nieces and nephews, Alissa, Donny, Brian, Sydney, Rebecca, Jacob, Joani and Matteo. The family also acknowledges Bodeen (Karen Schuelke) who was a lifelong close personal friend of Tom’s and Chad Fox who were both incredibly supportive throughout Tom’s hospital stay. Tom is also survived by many aunts and uncles and his cousin Todd Barcheski. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved momma, Toni Jo Munger and his Aunt Linda Simmons.

Please join us for a celebration of Tom’s life on Friday February 23, 2018 at 11 am at Arsulowicz Funeral Home which is located at 585 Stocking Ave NW Grand Rapids, Michigan. Any flower deliveries need to be made to 6th Street Hall instead of the memorial location.  After the celebration ceremony, the family invites you to attend a luncheon immediately following at 6th Street Hall located at 649 6th Street Grand Rapids, Michigan.
