Antonio C. Duron (To Tone), age 82, of Grand Rapids, MI passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from complications of Covid19.
Tony, the eldest of 8 children, was born April 19, 1939 in Crystal City, TX to Antonio Duron Sr. and Elvira Carillo. As Tony Sr. followed work, the family eventually settled in Grand Rapids, MI where Tony Jr. would spend the rest of his life and raise a family of his own. Tony was a drywaller by trade until an opportunity landed him in Environmental Services at Spectrum Health Hospital, where he would retire, after 25 years, at the age of 80.
Grateful for the life he had achieved and always remembering his humble beginnings, Tony would give the shirt off his back to family, friends or anyone in need. He also gave to a number of charities, causes and organizations in hopes of sharing some of the good fortune he was blessed to have received in his life. Tony loved to tinker, from the tiniest electronics to vehicle engines he never met a broken item he wouldn’t try to fix. Tony also loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with family.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Elvira Duron and sister’s Shirley Duron and Irma Ploeg. He is survived by his longtime friend and ex-wife, Sandy Duron, children, Scott (Sharon) Duron, Randy Duron, Kathy Trekal, Sherry Duron, Steve Duron, Tina Brown, Adam Duron and his adoptive daughter, Eneyda (Rico) Gonzalez, 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, siblings Mario (Mary) Duron, Jerry (Donna) Duron, Yolanda (Albert Molina), Alma (Geno) Bouwens and Danny Duron, many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends he made along the way.
