Arta Lucille (Pattee) Schumaker

Schumaker, Arta Lucille (Luie) fell asleep in Christ on October 6, 2021.  She was proceeded in death by her husband of 47 years Richard Schumaker, Father and Mother (Arthur and Louisa Pattee), and brothers and sisters.  Luie is survived by and missed by her children, Ken Schumaker, Paul (Kim) Schumaker, Joanna (James) Van Dyke, and eight grandchildren:  Stephanie Schumaker, Yurri Schumaker and Steve Utz, Katelynne Schumaker, Ryan and Ethan Loiselle, and Collin, Caleb and Conner Van Dyke her sister Jane Katterjohn, as was as her brother in law Bill Schumaker and brother in law Bob (Maryanne) Schumaker.

Luie graduated from Cedar Springs High School and worked for a short time at Oldsmobile and grooming dogs, before finding her enjoyment in child daycare from her home.  Luie was a compassionate, hardworking, and dedicated women, who loved the Lord.  She displayed her love for her family and others by being the best wife, mother, grandmother, and friend in the world.

Luie cherished spending time with family and friends, and helping others whenever there was a need.  Whether spending time with her husband after retirement at their lake home, traveling with her husband, or spending time with the grandkids.  Also, she was an avid card player and loved playing cards with family and friends.  She enjoyed the outdoors from hot and humid summers, spending time at the beach, going to garage sales and flea markets, riding mopeds with the family, or enjoying God’s beauty on walks with her dog.  Although her most fulfilling dedication was to the Lord through studying the Bible and fellowship of God’s word with family and friends.

Luie will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.  We would like to extend a special thank you to her sister Jane for the exceptional care she provided during Luie’s last days.

Family will greet at 10:30am, and service will begin at 11:00am

Rev. Karen Fitz La Barge and Daniel Sheridan officiating.

A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
