Barbara Taylor Day (1957-2025)
Barbara Taylor Day of Norton Shores died April 21,2025 after a multi-year battle with multiple myeloma.
Barb was born at Blodgett Memorial Hospital in East Grand Rapids, on September 23, 1957, to Jean and Charles Day. Barb was a graduate of Creston High School (1975), Michigan State University (1979), Western Michigan University, and the University of Northern Colorado. She taught elementary school in Montgomery County, Maryland early in her career. She retired from United Airlines where she was responsible for developing training programs.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Jean & Charles Day. She is survived by her beloved husband Dean Jones, sisters Claudia Day and Margaret VerMerris (Larry), brothers James Day (Mikki) and William Day. She had a profound influence on her nieces (Julianne Day Kumar (Arun), Elisa Lintemuth (David), and Hannah Day), and nephews (Glen Pierce (Jennifer), Michael VerMerris (Megan), Jonathan Day (Mindy), Kerry VerMerris (Bethany), and Owen Pierce-Casares (Nicole)). She loved and was loved in return by many grandnieces and grandnephews.
 In her retirement Barb rediscovered her love of sewing. She developed many important friendships at Lakeshore Sewing in Muskegon.
Barb loved the outdoors. She worked for the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) on a summer vacation from MSU. She helped plant thousands of trees on family property in northern Montcalm County.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday May 12 from 12:00-1:00 at Memorial Alternatives 2432 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. A private service is to follow.
