Betty Jane Rau

Rau, Betty Jane age 98 passed away on August 22 2020. Preceded in death by parents, Gottlieb and Matilda Rau, sisters; Marguerite Bowe, Katherine Keller and Dorothy Novak.  Brothers; Clifford, Chester, Wilbur, Herbert, Donald Sr., Kenneth, Richard, Frederick, Charles, Louis Rau, and special niece Patricia Kubilius. Survived by nephew-in-law William Kubilius,  and many nieces and nephews; Edward (Barbara) Bowe, Barbara Jendrasiak, Raymond Rau, Gregory Rau, Phyllis Venema, Roger (Corrine) Rau, Donald Jr. (Dianna) Rau, Michael Rau, Timothy (Mary Beth) Rau, Charles (Jan) Rau, Karen (Jack) Hickok, David Rau, Gary Novak, Susan (Christopher) Grant, Kimberley (William) Wicks and Daniel (Melissa) Rau.

Betty was a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church having served on Pastoral Council, Finance Council, Eucharistic Minister, Stephen Minister and Bible Study Leader. She was a volunteer for many years at Villa Elizabeth and St. Mary’s Living Center and also a longtime volunteer for the Kent County/Grand Rapids Convention Bureau. Betty retired in 1982 after 40 years of service as Director of Purchasing at McInerney Spring and Wire Company. She was the first woman member of the Purchasing Management Association of Grand Rapids in 1957. She was a retired member of Quota Club International and was selected first Quotarian of the year in 1987.  Betty traveled extensively in her lifetime and loved to play golf, bowl, play cards, read, and spend time with family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to Killgoar Foundation at IHM Church.
