Bill Postmus Obituary

William R. Postmus, age 84, of Grand Rapids, Michigan went to be home with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  Bill loved God, his family, and volunteering. He lived a life of service to others and was a long-time active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Bill graduated from Kalamazoo Christian school, Calvin University, and the University of Michigan.  As a social worker he worked for the State of Michigan, Pine Rest, and the Grand Rapids Public schools. He volunteered with many organizations, including Degage and Home Repair Services, and served on various boards, including MEA, and Retired MEA.

Bill played the French horn through college and sang in various choirs.

Bill loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be lovingly remembered by Joy, his wife of 62 years, siblings, Roger Postmus and Nancy Naber, his three children and their spouses Randy (Sharon) Postmus, Susan (Shawn) Nash, Mary (Bill) Van Skiver; 11 grandchildren, Rachel (Jordan) Goslinga, Connor (Paige) Nash, Russell (Hailey) Postmus, Carson Van Skiver, Drew (Lexi) Nash, Davis Van Skiver, Rebecca Postmus, Roger Postmus, Cassidy Van Skiver, Zachary Nash, and Dylan Van Skiver; and his 4 great grandchildren (Liam, Evelyn, Sophia, and Collyns) as well as nieces, nephews and in-laws.  The family would like to thank Porter Hills Nursing and Emmanual Hospice for their loving care and respect in the last months of Bill’s life.  And thank you to Marijean Smith, Bill’s sister-in-law, who gave him special attention and kindness.

Per Bill’s wishes cremation has occurred and a private Memorial Service for the family will celebrate Bill’s life and memories.

Memorial contributions may be made to Degage, Home Repair Services, or to the Westminster Food Pantry.
