On November 22, Bonnie J McNeil (McAllister), a loving mother, wife, and friend, was released from the governor’s quarantine and is now in Christ’s presence, at the age of 90.
Bonnie was born June 8, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated with honors from Creston High School and met monthly with her “girls club” consisting of 9 friends from junior and senior high until advanced age slowed Bonnie and the other friends down.
After high school, Bonnie enrolled at Davenport College, and became a very skilled and accomplished secretary. While attending Davenport, Bonnie met her husband Kenneth (Red) McNeil. They were married 69 years and raised 3 children.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth and her brother Gerald Krenz. She is survived by her children, Michael (Karin) McNeil, Michele Loper (Douglas), and Kevin (Eileen) McNeil. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Bonnie and Kenneth were both active in church ministries, young people’s leaders, and served the Young Calvinists conventions as living group leaders. They enjoyed travelling together until “old age” set in. They moved to Raybrook Estates, in their own apartment, and as they needed additional care, transferred to assisted living and skilled nursing care.
Bonnie was a creative, nurturing and inspiring mother and grandmother. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 27, 2020 at New Community Church, 2340 Dean Lake Road NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525
