Burnadette L. Haney

Burnadette Lois Haney (née MacQueen), known affectionately as Burnie, passed away on November 6, 2024, in Wyoming, MI, at the age of 93. Born on May 27, 1931, in Pontiac, MI, she lived a full and loving life.

Burnie was a devoted wife to her husband of 74 years, Marshall "Rolly" Haney. She was a loving mother to her four children: Marshall (Kathy) Haney, Pamela (Mark) Johnson, Heather Dalecke and her special friend Bryan Brower, and Cynthia (Mark) Lannon. Her legacy extends to her thirteen grandchildren—Jason (Elaine) Haney, Jeremy (Andrea) Haney, Dan (Jordan) Hauser, Dave (Maggie) Hauser, Mike Hauser, Kyle (Jeff) King, Kelly Johnson, Nicholas Dalecke and Cheyenne Petersen, Kirk (Sarah) Lannon, Courtney (Damir) Mujic, Michaela Lannon, Keith Lannon, and Ryan (Allison) Lannon—as well as her 13 great-grandchildren.

Burnie is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Delia MacQueen, and her sister Coiene and brother-in-law Franklin Smith. She is survived by her sister Annette and brother-in-law Gaylord Smith.

Professionally, Burnie dedicated her early years to childcare, managing her own licensed daycare, and fostering a nurturing environment for children at Westminster Child Development Center. Later, she took a managerial position at Jacobson's in East Grand Rapids, where she continued to impact her community positively.

Burnie was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she engaged deeply with her community and faith. Her life included spending summers with her dear friends, Duane and Yvonne Rieder at their cottage in Saugatuck, camping, engaging in pottery, and sewing, which brought great joy to her and her family.

Burnadette's family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Medilodge of Wyoming for caring for her the last few years. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a service to remember both Marshall and Burnadette on May 17, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 47 Jefferson Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Westminster Presbyterian Church and Memorial Alternatives in Grand Rapids, MI, are assisting the family with arrangements.
