Obituary

Candace Grace Whitsell passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, November 4th, 2020 at age 74. Candace, known as Candy by her friends and family, was born in Kansas and moved to Michigan at a very young age.

Candy was loved by all and she had many likes and interests as she preferred to keep herself busy. She enjoyed musical theater and loved everything about dance. She enjoyed watching and teaching dance in addition to being an elegant dancer herself back in the day.

Community involvement was important to Candy as she tirelessly volunteered her time at a local food pantry helping to feed those in need. In her spare time she enjoyed reading a good book, building impossibly big puzzles, scrapbooking and sewing. Candy was highly skilled at sewing producing many spectacular, intricately themed quilts.

Candy loved playing trivia and board games with her family, especially with her beloved grandchildren Alexis Lynch, Chasen Henry Hampton and Paige Elizabeth Hampton.

Candy was born to the late Patricia and Robert May and was sister to the late Sue May. She is survived by her loyal husband of 55 years, Harry Whitsell, son Scott Alan Whitsell with wife Tammy and daughter Melinda Jo Whitsell. Her brothers are Robert May Jr. and Thom May and sisters are Cathy (Michael) Dood and Darlene (Dale) Wierzbicki in addition to many nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Candy will be loved, missed and fondly remembered forever.
