Cheryl Ann (Takus) Googins passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. She was born August 22, 1945 to Arthur and Shari Takus, was the oldest of seven children and remained devoted to her siblings throughout her life. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Shelley Takus, Jeffrey Takus, and Barbara Schrauben. She is survived by her siblings Diane Johnson, Gail Christopoulos, and David (Kellie) Takus, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Cheryl married Edgar Googins and was a loving mother to Jason (Alison) and Kevin. Her greatest joy was being “Gramma” to Collin, Jaiden, and Whitney. On her final day, Collin told her, “Thanks for being a great Gramma.”
She earned her nursing degree and began her career in the burn unit at Butterworth Hospital, later working for many years at TSI Incorporated and Borisch Manufacturing.
Known for her kindness, Cheryl was always there for her family and anyone in need. She loved gospel music, faithfully attended Ada Bible Church, and cherished her close circle of friends.
She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park located at 50 Lake Michigan Drive Walker, Michigan 49544 on April 25, 2026 at 11am. Immediately following the graveside service a celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held at Land Conservancy of West Michigan located at 237 Steel Street Grand Rapids, Michigan 46543.
