Claire Yvonne Udell

Claire walked peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 10, 2022. She was 48 years old.

Claire was preceded in death by her parents Ken & Jacque Udell, grandparents Max & Janet Udell and Harry & Ruth Gladden, and many other dear family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered and is survived by her brother and protector Chris & Stacey Udell, special aunt and uncle Bonnie & Randy Lokers, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, Jake & Jamie, Buzz & Kaitlyn, Logan & Kristy, Kaylee & Bailey, Landan & Brooklyn, and grand nieces and nephews Shawna, Nathan, Leland, Cooper, and Azden, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will also be missed by her best friend Dawn Harden, they had such a special friendship.

Claire graduated from Kent Occupational High School where she learned how to be independent and participated in Special Olympics. She was a long time member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Wyoming where she sang in the choir for many years.  She loved her church as well as the people there that loved her so well.

Claire's strength in faith and spirit were admired by all who knew her and her sweet grin and silly sense of humor were only surpassed by her ability to slip in and out of a room without being noticed. Claire found joy in the simplest things and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of celebrities and couldn't wait to tell you about how they were connected through various books, shows, or movies.  She was an absolute joy to be around and if you were particularly close to her, she would pick on you constantly, while barely containing her giggles. Now she can resume her constant poking of Dad (sorry dad).  Claire's simple nature also provided her the rare ability to be still and listen. Something we can all aspire to.

Special thanks to the team of nurses and doctors at University of Michigan West/Metro Health that cared for and honored Claire so well. We are forever grateful.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Special Olympics Michigan (https://www.somi.org/). A private service for immediate family will take place on April 23rd with a Celebration of Life open house to follow at the Pinery Park lodge from 1:30pm-4:30pm.
