Claudia Werbeskas-Ramirez Obituary

Claudia Jane Werbeskas-Ramirez, age 71 of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away on August 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on May 26, 1954 to Robert and Frances Brackett in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Surviving is Claudia's husband, Oscar (Tino) Ramirez; children Jason (Amanda) Werbeskas and Michael Werbeskas; her four precious grandchildren Charlie, Brady, Lily and Henry who brought light to her world; her brother Allen (Karen Ann) Brackett; her sister Karen (Ken) Hansen; many nieces, nephews, and many close friends as well.  She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Frances Brackett, and her late first husband Charles Werbeskas.

Claudia spent her life rooted in the community she loved. Her deep compassion and unwavering dedication to animals led her to a lifelong career as a veterinary technician. For over four decades, she worked alongside Dr. Wayne Weisner and Dr. Jim Innis, becoming a trusted and beloved figure to countless pet owners. Claudia had an extraordinary memory for the animals she cared for—she could recall a pet from decades ago with vivid detail and bring its story to life as if it was yesterday.

Claudia’s love extended far beyond her professional life. Claudia lived a life enriched by the things she cherished most—her husband, her children and grandchildren, her beloved pets, her family and friends, and the simple joys of everyday life. She could often be found watching football, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and the Michigan Wolverines. Her creativity shone through in her love of sewing and baking, and she found joy in crafting with care and precision; precious gifts or cakes for her grandchildren and friends.

Time spent with her closest friends was especially meaningful to her, offering laughter, companionship, and lasting memories.  Whether it was a spontaneous trip somewhere tropical with her husband or a leisurely outing with friends, Claudia embraced every moment with warmth and enthusiasm. Claudia’s beloved dogs Jack and Rowdy; her cats Chai and Sunny Martini brought her constant companionship.  They shared that same affection for her as she shared with them and they will miss her dearly.

Claudia’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched—human and animal alike. Claudia’s faith was an important part of her life. She knew Jesus and found spiritual solace at North Lawn United Methodist Church, where she drew strength from her beliefs and found comfort in her final days.  May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
