David Eugene Myers, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home into the arms of Jesus on March 15, 2019. He was born March 6, 1935, in Grand Rapids, MI and was a lifelong resident.
David served four years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of sergeant. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for one year. Later, he worked for 25 years as a computer programmer/systems analyst at Meijer Corporate Headquarters. He and his wife enjoyed an active retirement, spending time with grandchildren, gardening, wintering in Florida, and swing dancing as often as possible. Family weddings were a treat for his children, who enjoyed watching their parents cut a rug on the dance floor.
David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annelore (Lori); daughters Terri (Ron) LeMaire, Tracy (John) Janevic, Kristine (Jamie) Nadwodnik; grandchildren Staci (Patrick) Elkins, Dean (Heather) LeMaire, Ben Janevic, Sophia Janevic, Nick Grzybowski, Cody Grzybowski, Blake Grzybowski; and great-granddaughter Whilamina Elkins (or, as he fondly called her, “The Boss.”)
David was a loving, faithful husband and devoted father and grandfather, always generous with his time. He cherished his family and lived thankfully and gratefully. When asked what gifts he’d like for Christmas or his birthday, he always answered “Peace, love, and happiness.”
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Life Church, 3233 10 Mile Road, Rockford, MI. Funeral services are at noon, followed by a luncheon.
Memorial donations may be made to the Marine Corps League, P.O. Box 150331, Grand Rapids, MI 49515 (please note: In Memory of David Myers), or the charity of your choice.
