David Lee Vance age 74, of Grand Rapids passed away on November 15, 2021. He was born on March 28, 1947 in Grand Rapids to the late Clarence and Ethel Vance. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years Clara Vance (Stiles), son Terry (Sandra) Vance, daughter Melinda Vance, daughter Melissa Hager, Maria (Joe) Gardner, son Merle Vance, daughter Kaylee Vance, grandchildren Samantha Gardner, Isaiah Gardner, Michael Vance, Ben Workman, Elizabeth Workman, Brooke Olmstead, Curtis Hager, Sarah Hager and several great grandchildren and one sister Carol (Raymond) Plaza. He was preceded in death by his sons Michael Vance, David Vance, brother Steve Vance and sister Sandra Pifer.
David was a mechanic for many years working at the Shell Station on 28th Street in Grandville, then working at Shell at 54th and Division and retiring in Eastown from the Amoco Station. He loved everything about cars, working on them and rebuilding engines in his spare time. He also loved to fish and hunt and spend time outdoors. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Honoring David’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held in Summer of 2022.
