Dawn Pikaar of Wyoming, age 62, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 22, 2021. She devoted her life to Jesus and her family. Dawn was a loving, self-less mother and treasured time with her grandchildren.
Dawn enjoyed time reading her Bible, time with her friends at Gilda's Club, cross-stitching, baking, and God's creation. Dawn also found great joy in helping others and volunteering. Her family shared in her excitement in all of her accomplishments, which brought her great joy. She completed several courses of study and became a chartered member and certified mental health peer specialist under the National Association of Peer Specialists, Inc. She also achieved many Certificates of Appreciation and Excellence Awards in recognition of her passion and gifts of time and energy in working alongside individuals with mental illness and recovery within the Network 180 system of care and Community Mental Health & Substance Abuse Network of West Michigan.
Dawn was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her mother Patricia Pulaski; her dear step-sister Susan Syrba; and her dear friend Betty Taylor; Dawn will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren, Becka and Kaleb Matulaitis (Jaiden Matulaitis, Keegan Matulaitis, Jemala Matulaitis, Karson Matulaitis) and Jaclyn Suttorp (Isaac Suttorp, Yessenya Valdez, Ray Valdez III); her father George and Marge Pulaski; her siblings Diane (Jan) VanderLaan, James Christopher (Mary Beth) Pulaski, John (Kirsten) Pulaski, Julie Gorter; her step-siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
