Debra Kaplanowski

Debra Lyn Kaplanowski (Smith) of Comstock Park, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday January 18, 2026. She was 63 years old.

Deb graduated from Union High School in 1980. She has always been proud to be a "Westsider!" After high school Deb went on to start her career in graphic design, working for the same company for 41 years. Deb always enjoyed a good time with her friends and family. One of her great joys in life was to be Andy's pit tootsie at the motocross track. She loved to bar hop on their Iron Horse and visit with friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren filled her heart with joy and happiness, she loved being "Granny!"

Deb is survived by her children Ryan (Nena) Smith, Jessica (David) Smith and her sister Denise Smith and brother Daniel Smith. Her grandchildren Caleb and Mason Smith, Kylee, Zachary, and Justin Bennink. Her great grandchildren Landry and Cayceion. Her nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles. 

Deb is proceeded in death by her parents Daniel and Georgia Smith and her husband Andrew Kaplanowski.

Deb will be cremated and a celebration of life will take place on Saturday January 24, 2026 at the American Legion Post 47 3811 West River Drive NE Comstock Park, Michigan 49321 starting at 2 PM.
