Dennis D. Murphy

Dennis David Murphy of Grand Rapids passed away on May 28, 2026, at the age of 60. His final years were spent in quiet solitude, where he faced the challenges of long‑term illness with a quiet resilience that marked much of his life.

He was a man with a kind heart, someone who noticed small things, cared deeply in his own way, and found joy in the world of sports — especially hockey, which he followed with unwavering loyalty. Even when life grew difficult, the rink remained a place of excitement and connection for him.

He mattered. His presence, his gentleness, and his love for the game left impressions on those who crossed his path. His story is a reminder that every life holds meaning, even when it unfolds in quiet or solitary ways.

He will be remembered not for his struggles alone, but for the humanity beneath them — the kindness he carried, the passions that lit him up, and the hope that he is now at peace.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, George and Nancy Murphy, and his nephew, Jacob Freybler. He is survived by his children, Alisha Price (and grandchildren Ayden Price and Tristin Newsome) and Kyle (Tracey) Yonkers; his sisters, Denice (Al) Brede and Diane (Jim) Freybler; as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friends who will carry his memory forward.
