Diana F. Wigstone died peacefully at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods on the morning of June 22. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Wigstone, and her parents, Francis and Mary Bacigalupe. Diana was born in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Northwestern University, as did her husband. She was a loyal Northwestern alumna who “bled purple” and helped found the Northwestern Club of West Michigan 20 years ago. Diana served as club president and later as a highly active membership chair.
Diana spent many years as a public servant with the State of Michigan, and also worked with her husband in the advertising business. She had a particular interest in music of all kinds, and served with the Grand Rapids Symphony Friends as treasurer. Until recently, she traveled every year to the Mariachi Convention in Las Cruces, NM where she enjoyed singing. She was a master of several instruments as well. She kindly donated her Steinway piano to St. Cecilia Music Center in Grand Rapids. Diana enjoyed dollhouse miniatures and created several lovely vignettes.
Diana is survived by her dear friends, Kim Johnson and Diane Spoelhof, who visited her faithfully every Sunday while she was in hospice. Her friends of 20 years, Susan and Bill Jones, took care of many of her needs in her last months. She will be remembered fondly by the board and members of the Northwestern Club of West Michigan.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal funeral service, but a few friends will gather when her ashes are interred at a date to be named later.
