Doris Louise Collins passed away on February 24, 2025 at the age of 98. She was born in Seward, Illinois to the late Earl and Mildred Grover. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Michael Collins, Mary Collins, Patricia Collins, Timothy Collins, brother Dale Grover and her sister-in-law Dorothy Grover. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Collins, sisters Helen Rutherford and Minnie Barnes and brothers Earl Grover, Raymond Grover, Ned Grover, Clyde Grover and Alan Grover.
She was a registered nurse graduating from the Rockford School of Nursing in Rockord, Illinois. Doris spent much of her career as a nurse with the Kent County Health Department. She enjoyed playing softball, bowling, reading, jigsaw puzzles and playing lottery scratch offs. Doris also enjoyed taking road trips with her husband Dale. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and will be greatly missed. A special thanks to the staff of SarahCare of Knapps Corner, Corewell Hospice and especially Julie Kaiser and Ann Zandstra of Leaves In Home Personal Care for their wonderful care of Doris.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday March 6, 2025 from 4-7pm at Memorial Alternatives, 2432 Fuller Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice. A celebration of life service will be held later this spring.
