Dorothy Laufer, age 92, on August 27/2021, closed her earthly eyes one last time and opened them again to see our Lord and Savior reaching out to take her home to begin her Heavenly life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles, son, Calvin; brother, Richard Meyer (Judy.) She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Ralph (Shirley) and children, Heidi, Rick (Molly), Wendy, Chip, and daughter-in-law Julia. In addition, Dorothy had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.
Dorothy grew up in Palatine, Illinois. Dorothy did her undergrad at Northwestern University and earned a Master’s from the University of Michigan. Dorothy taught grade school for over forty years to special needs students.
She loved astronomy, nature, birds, daisies, butterflies, and music. She played the organ at Long Grove church in Illinois. She was a sports fan, and she was thrilled when her Cubs finally won the World Series. However, Dorothy loved people the most; and made everyone that she met feel welcome. Dorothy was a positive and patient person, and her favorite word was “wonderful” whenever she heard any good news about people’s lives.
In her last days, she mentioned how thankful she was to the Lord for giving her such a wonderful life filled with so much joy. She talked about her deep love for her husband Charles and how they shared many adventures, such as sailing.
She will be greatly missed by the many people who knew her and loved her
