Douglas Dale Rozema, age 67, of Rockford, Michigan, passed away on April 21, 2026. Born on October 20, 1958, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Doug lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and the many people fortunate enough to know him.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Edward Rozema and Helen Elizabeth Rozema.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Krystal Rozema (Mahmut Selmic), Kyle Rozema, Stephanie Rozema, and Courtney Rozema (Tom Schmier), the mother of his children, Christine Rozema, his brothers, Daniel (Janet) Rozema and Rick (Pam) Rozema, and his cherished grandchildren, Carson Hutchison, Evelyn Meier, Callan Hutchison, and Silas Hutchison. He also leaves behind his nephews and niece, Kirk Rozema, Drew Rozema, John Rozema, Jeremiah Rozema, and Emily Rozema.
Doug built a meaningful and lasting career at Besser, where he began in April 1998 and rose to serve as Vice President of Customer Experience. Through his work, he not only shaped his industry but also shared his knowledge generously with his family and others. He was known for explaining even complex ideas in simple ways, often reminding those around him that “cement is to concrete as flour is to bread,” a reflection of both his expertise and his gift for teaching.
Outside of work, Doug found joy in the simple things. He enjoyed puttering in his barn, always finding something to fix, build, or tinker with. He also cherished the quiet moments spent with his two favorite cats, Logan and Luna, who were constant companions.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Doug will be remembered as a friend to many and someone who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a mentor, a steady presence, and a source of guidance, often taking on the role of a big brother to those around him, especially in his younger years.
His legacy lives on in the lessons he shared, the relationships he built, and the love he gave so freely.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Charlie’s Bar and Grille, 3519 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories, stories, and honor Doug’s life.
