ELAINE FRIEDMAN, 89, originally from the Detroit metro area, passed away peacefully on April 1st, 2020 due to her decline with Dementia. She was a strong, determined woman and a matriarch to a worldwide family. Her late husbands were Raymond Daneman and Chuck Friedman. She is survived by her children Marc & Linda Daneman, Robert & Sheryl Daneman, and the late Gwen Budow with Maury (Carolyn) Budow. She loved her grandchildren (and great grandchildren) Burke & Mandy Daneman (Mackenzie & Ollie), Benje & Ashley Daneman (Matt, Rivi & Maeve), and Tyler Daneman; and her Israeli grandchildren Rami & Bayta Budow, Jonah & Michal Budow (Hadasha and Yisca), and Elianna & Noah Kaplan; along with her step grandchildren Yaniv, Ilan & Kerem Budow. Her brother and sister, Stewart Shear and Debra & Al Linn and their children all miss her too. Elaine had many wonderful friends and co-workers and was dedicated to them and their interests.
Elaine was an intellectual, returning to college while her children finished theirs. She was a social worker (MSW) offering professional services directing activities with the Jewish Federation at their Senior Life residences, along with counseling children and families, and volunteering with the family courts. She loved to travel and did so across the world, especially to Israel and Colorado to visit family; and also enjoyed the arts, jazz, reading and caring for others. She was a great cook, particularly for the holidays – no one made a better brisket. Although her last few years were difficult, she had a spirit that all remember and is in a better place now.
A celebration of her life will be held later. Contributions in her memory can be made to Detroit’s Jewish Senior Life (https://www.jslmi.org/make-a-donation-tribute); Clark Foundation’s Employee Education and Training Fund (616-278-6533); or to a charity of your choice. Her family appreciates your thoughts and support. Be safe and thank you.
