Elizabeth Webber Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Webber, 104 years young, passed away on July 2, 2026.

Born on January 3, 1922, in Pennsylvania, Betty graduated from Swarthmore College with a degree in English. She moved to Michigan in 1949, where she built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and service.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bob Webber, her beloved son, Tom; and the love of her life, Dave. She is survived by her son, Bob Webber; daughter, Peggy (Joe) Bishop; grandchildren Steve (Liz) Webber, Angela (Adam) Smith, and Liz (Greg) Hayes; daughters-in-law Jan Webber and Pat Newman; six great-grandchildren; and many cherished friends.

A lifelong Presbyterian, Betty was actively involved in her church throughout her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her intelligence, kindness, faith, wit, and youthful spirit. After beginning life as a working mother in 1965, she held a variety of positions before ending her career at age 90 grading MEAP test essays, a role that reflected her love of language and learning.

Betty embraced life with enthusiasm. She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, reading, completing the New York Times crossword puzzle, and participating in water aerobics. Even after reaching 100, she continued to drive, stay active, and maintain her independence.

A memorial service will be held on July 7, 2026, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.

Betty’s family is grateful for the many friendships and kindnesses that enriched her long and remarkable life.
