Floyd ‘Sox’ William Lamoine Stocking Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021, surrounded lovingly by his family. Floyd battled with Parkinsons for over a decade, as well as suffered with cancer.
Preceding him in death are his father and mother; Orlie and Lilian (White) Stocking, brothers; Cloise, Jim and Bobby, sister; Brenda, granddaughter; Penny Stocking, mother of his seven children; Caroline Stocking and close friend; Marilyn (Jacki) Olin.
Floyd is survived by his sisters; Nancy Pickron and Margie Ketterman, children; Connie (Ron) Brown, Debbie (Chris) Brechting, Floyd ‘Bill’ (Ann) Stocking Jr., Lori (Ron) Garcia, Mark (Judy) Stocking, Brenda Landino, and Amy Stocking; 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Floyd worked as a foreman for over 30 years at Van Ess Construction. In his retirement years, he enjoyed much of his time at his property ‘up north’, deer hunting. He also liked fishing with his lifelong friend, Lee Hiler. He also enjoyed playing cards with his buddies, at American Legion Post 47 in Comstock Park. And when he was feeling lucky, he liked to play slots at Little River Casino.
Floyd will fondly be remembered for his jovial story telling, stellar memory of years past, and his profound love for his family. A graveside service will be held on his 86th birthday, Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 am at Chubbuck Cemetery in Kent City.Family and friends are welcome to gather at American Legion Post 47 in Comstock Park afterwards (approx. 12:30pm) for a celebration of life and to share memories.
