Gloria Jean VonMyhr, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 28, 2026. She was born on May 11, 1941, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Lyle Erwin Myers and Bonnie Billie Dimock.
Gloria lived a life centered on faith, family, and friendship. She grew up in West Michigan and attended Berlin Public School and Union High School. Throughout her life, she was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, unwavering faith in God, and the joy she found in spending time with those she loved.
For nearly three decades, Gloria worked as a press operator at Corduroy Rubber Company. She took great pride in her work and was respected for her dedication, determination, and willingness to help others. Over the years, she trained dozens of coworkers and was often recognized as an example of hard work and commitment.
Gloria was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her sons, James “Rick” VonMyhr and Gary (Michelle) VonMyhr; her brothers, Donald (Vandi) Patterson, Lyle Myers, and Erwin Myers; her grandchildren, Brandon White, Garry VonMyhr, Nicolas VonMyhr, Erick VonMyhr, Hailey VonMyhr, and Rhiley Van Dyken; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Eric Edward VonMyhr; her life partner, Solomon Brand; her parents, Lyle Erwin Myers and Bonnie Billie Dimock; and her sisters, Phyllis Wilkerson and Laura Marckini.
Gloria found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved camping, traveling, visiting friends, and gathering around a card table for games of setback, spades, and especially poker. She enjoyed watching movies and Christian programming, but few things brought her more happiness than a good game of bingo, a day spent garage sale shopping, or finding treasures at thrift stores and flea markets.
Many will remember Gloria behind a flea market table, sharing stories and laughter while selling her latest treasures. Whether she was selling Beanie Babies on a Friday night at Woods and Waters in Newaygo, DVDs at the Beltline Flea Market in Wyoming, or merchandise during Red Flannel Days in Cedar Springs, she embraced every opportunity to connect with people and enjoy the community around her.
Above all, Gloria will be remembered for her steadfast faith and her deep love for God. Prayer was a constant part of her life, and she faithfully brought both life’s smallest concerns and greatest challenges before the Lord. Her faith helped shape the lives of her children and grandchildren, leaving a lasting legacy of love, strength, and devotion. The memories she created, the wisdom she shared, and the kindness she extended to others will be cherished by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday June 19,2026 with food and fellowship beginning at 5:30 p.m. and an informal service at 6:30 p.m., at 6989 Campau Lake Drive SE, Alto, Michigan 49302.
Gloria’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who provided care, support, friendship, and love throughout her life.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”
