Hannah Elizabeth Malone, or Drusilla as she was known by some, passed away after battling kidney failure for 25 years on August 4, 2023. She was at home, with her beloved mother Becca at her side and she was surrounded by family. She was born on October 11, 1997 in Commerce Township, MI. She lived in Michigan, Ohio, and Utah throughout her life.
Hannah was a free spirit who loved music, art, animals, anime, and making her own path in the world. She loved adventure, spending time with friends, and being in nature. Hannah wouldn’t let anyone tell her what to do or who she should be. She was proud to stand on her own and fight for what she believed. Hannah knew that not all who wander are lost.
Hannah was the light of her mother’s life. She was a fighter from the beginning, battling death at only two-months old. As a child, she never let her numerous medical procedures slow her down or stop her from smiling, hiding from her mom behind cars, or getting stuck in a fireplace. Throughout her life, she endured countless surgeries, medical procedures, medications, and attempts to prolong her life. With each procedure she gained scars that she wore proudly as a symbol of her journey and fight to survive. When the time came, she was also brave enough to know when she had enough pain in this world and was ready to go home.
Hannah is survived by her mom & stepmom Becca & Kathryn Malone, grandparents Terry & Diana Malone, grandparents Tom & Susan Woods, many aunts & uncles (with Jen and Tim being her favorites), and too many cousins to try and list here. She also left behind her beloved cat Cobain and tiny dog Tauriel. Hannah was preceded in death by her great grandparents Eula & Hollie Rogers, Ralph & Marge Malone, Betty & Chuck Day, her cat Lennon and dog Arwen.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 13, 2023 at 2:00pm at a private residence.
Memorial donations may be made in Hannah’s name to Animal Emergency Hospital at 3260 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 or via phone at 616-361-9911.
