Harry James Balulis, born 02/20/1944, passed away peacefully 06/06/2019, at the age of 75.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucille Balulis; 2 sisters, Marylin Hartman and Nancy Wimpee; sister in law, Diane Balulis; and a special military friend/brother in law, Mike Stapleton. He is survived by, and will be greatly missed by, his children: Charitie Watkins, Crystal Balulis, and Nicole(Thomas) Krussell; his 9 grandchildren: Jacob, AJ, Savannah, Kaitlyn, Christ, Brendon, Noah, Seth, and Jaxon; great granddaughter Natalie; sisters and brothers: Joyce and Larry Jansma , Fran and Jim Gager, Terry Wimpee, Ruth Stapleton, Tom and Artie Balulis, and David Balulis; many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Harry was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI, and lived in Jenison since 1974. He was a United States Air Force veteran, as he always had a love of planes. He was a retiree of General Motors and of the Gerald R Ford Presidential Museum security staff. He was a proud member of the American Legion. He was an amazing father and grandfather, and all who knew him found him a joy to be around. He could make anyone laugh, always telling silly jokes, ones that were so silly you had no choice but to laugh. He was also the most helpful person, doing anything for those he loved.
A service to celebrate the life of Harry will be on Thursday, June 13th from 2-4pm at Memorial Alternatives at 2432 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
