Irene Laverne (Danneffel) Mansfield

Irene, age 100 & 17 days went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on 5/17/2021.

She was born May 1, 1921 in Benton Harbor, MI to Dean and Marie Danneffel. She was preceded in death by her parents; Bernice, an infant sister and her sister, Dorothy Lavina, age 97.

The family moved to California when Irene was 3 years old. She graduated from L.A. High School in 1939 and entered the Nurse Cadet Corp. during World War II and graduated in 1947.  For 10 years, Irene worked in various phases of nursing then was led to work for the organization, Child Evangelization Fellowship in the Pacific Palisades, CA. When CEF decided to make their headquarters in Grand Rapids, MI, Irene moved with them in 1959.

She met Richard E. Mansfield in 1960 and they were married July 8, 1961. They had a happy marriage for 32 years when Richard died, December 8, 1993.

Irene was a faithful member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church, Sparta and a memorial service on her behalf will take place Monday, 5/24 at 11:00 a.m. at the church; 660 S. State St., Sparta, MI 49345. Memorial donations may be given in her name to the charity of your choice.
