Jack D. Dillard, age 73, passed away peacefully in his home and on his terms on the morning of February 6, 2024.
Born in Union City, Tennessee, Jack relocated to the Grand Rapids area as a child. He attended Kenowa Hills Schools, Ferris State University, and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a salesman, a manager, and an entrepreneur, but perhaps he was best known as a voracious reader, a tenacious genealogy researcher, and a notorious pool shark who enjoyed Jim Beam, race cars, football, westerns, and quality time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Robert Chlebek, his mother Margaret Jean Chlebek, and his beloved grandmother Mattie (“Ma”) Huey, who helped raise his brother and him.
He is survived by his three daughters: Pam (Chris) Jenks and granddaughter Lauren, Amanda (Nick) Blakeslee and grandchildren Brooklyn Vivoda and Jackson, and Dr. Laura (Greg) Welcher and grandchildren Remington and Charley, his brother Dick (Julie) Chlebek, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his little dog Mocha.
Jack has been cremated in accordance with his wishes, and his family will be hosting Celebration of Life in the upcoming months (specifics to be announced).
