Dr. James A. Griswold went home to his lord and Savior on December 29, 2021. James is preceded in death by his father Vernon Griswold, mother Lois Traxler, and step-father Earl Traxler. He is survived by his loving wife of eighteen years Janet, his five children Amie (Sam) Battaglia, Jimmy (Jenni) Griswold, and Misty Griswold (Chris Sugin), Brian (Scott) Hobbs-Vriezema, Jennifer (Aaron) Shapiro, and three beautiful grand-sons. James is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends and all of his loyal patients.
James was born on March 20,1960 to Vernon and Lois Griswold. He graduated from Fruit Port High School. Jim attended Muskegon Community College Muskegon Michigan and obtained an Associate Degree in Science and a Certificate in Radiology. Later, he graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic Davenport, Iowa. Upon completing school Jim owned and operated Griswold Chiropractic Clinic in Spring Lake, Michigan.
Jim loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. As a young child Jim and his family spent a great deal of time traveling and exploring the United States. In 1999 not only did Jim buy a motorcycle but also met Jan. Over the years they took many different trips together on the motorcycle. He always enjoyed taking Jan on last minute Motorcycle trips, including Detroit, Michigan; St. Louis, Missouri; and Chicago, Illinois. He also looked forward to Tuesday Euchre Night. In Jim’s spare time, he enjoyed reading James Patterson and Stephen King novels. He always continued to read and expand his knowledge to better help his patients. Jim always loved the happiness of Friday night date nights with Jan. Jim will truly be missed by his family, friends and his patient’s. A memorial service will be held on Sunday June 12, 2022 at 11am at Rycenga Park located at 16401 Hemlock Drive Spring Lake, Michigan 49456 with time of visitation to follow.
