James Noel passed away on April 7, 2025, at the age of 81. Jim was born on April 15, 1943, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late James and Bernadine Noel. He is survived by his two daughters, Amy Noel (Anna) of Colorado and Kari (Kent) Ballard of North Carolina, and by his sisters, Joyce Byrne and Margaret Slott, both of Michigan. He was a proud grandfather to Alana Macy, Ryan Noel, Amy Duncan, Jimmy Ballard, Rachel Ballard, Noelle Ballard, Tony Ballard, Gessica Smith, and Stephany Miller and had many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Jim was born in Grand Rapids and spent most of his career as a controller for firms like Dow Corning, GD Searle, American Express, and ICCF Community Homes of Grand Rapids. His career moved him to Miami, FL, as he specialized in Latin America. He loved Miami for the fishing, the music, and the outdoors but moved back to Michigan after 30 years to be closer to his family. He cherished his extended family and the state of his birth. His favorite place to be was on a river trout fishing and enjoying nature. He and his sister Joyce drove all over Michigan following trout streams from beginning to end. They did this weekly even as his health declined. Jim was a rabid fan of the University of Miami (FL) Hurricanes football team and a devotee of the blues and music in general. He was a beloved father who made time for his kids and was a gentle giant. Memorial services will be held at a later date and family and friends will be notified.
