James L. Treece

James “Captain” Treece age 84, of Grand Rapids, Michigan went home to his Lord and Savior on November 9, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Eleanor Treece (Neu), infant sister Ellen Kay Treece, sister Joy Lynn Treece, step-brother Wayne (Trudy) Neu, sister in-law Arlene Treece, daughter in-law Debra Treece, and grandson Jason Mouw.   

James leaves behind his three children Kim (Rick) Mouw, James Treece, and Lee (Crista) Treece along with nine grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. James also leaves behind his brother Lawrence Treece, step-brother Ross (Louise) Neu and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

James was a proud Army Veteran who served with the 101st Airborne Unit. Over the years he enjoyed variety of activities. James liked spending time at the Bowling Alley with his friends bowling a few games. He was also an outdoorsman; he found great joy in spending time outside hunting and fishing. He was passionate about music; he loved playing his accordion. James was also an avid card player, he truly enjoyed playing pretty much every card game around. James was known for always preparing a fantastic meal. He loved preparing dishes for large groups and was featured in the Grand Rapids Press for some of his recipes. James enjoyed every aspect of life and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday November 14, 2024 at 11 am at Jamestown Baptist Church located 2472 Quincy Street Hudsonville, Michigan 49426 with visitation two hours prior to service and a time of fellowship to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in James’s memory to Pine Ridge Bible Camp.
