Janet Louise (Sarlouis) Buffham

Janet Buffham, 78 years old, passed away early Friday morning, Jan 29^th, peacefully in her sleep into the hands of Jesus.  She was preceded in death by her parents Edward & Louise Sarlouis, and grandchildren Kelsey and Jared Sikkema.

She was the dear wife of Bob Buffham for 57 years.   She leaves two daughters; Lisa (Scott) Sikkema of Rockford, and Lori Barnes of Jackson, MI., two Sisters; Linda (Dan) Sayer of Grand Haven and Darlene (Harley) Marek, Souix Falls, S. D., brother-in-laws Charles (Sandy) Buffham and Tom (Susan) Buffham, both of Grand Rapids, grandchildren; Jordan (Michaela) Sikkema, Sam, Paul, and Jack Sikkema, Bill, Nolan, and Andrew Barnes.  She will also be missed by her indoor birds, Jonathon and A. J. as well as by many friends.

Janet was a country girl who grew up in Lake Odessa, MI, graduated from Maywood Academy in Grand Rapids.  She then met her husband after attending Davenport Business College while working in Grand Rapids.

Janet was a homemaker who prided herself in taking care of her husband and the family, especially cooking.  She loved to sew, knit, and quilt, and through her skills loved to make clothes, mittens, pillow cases, and other things for young children as well as family and friends.  She also enjoyed rubber stamping cards with her daughter and stamping friends.   Janet always wanted to be out of the limelight, but enjoyed seeing people happy with things she could make for them.

Janet was also a lover of outdoor animals.  She enjoyed feeding the neighborhood birds, squirrels, and chipmunks, which will now probably go hungry with Janet’s passing.  She attended Cascade Fellowship CRC Church for the past 14 years as well as participating in their Bible Study’s, and had many friends.

A “Celebration of Life” event will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Community CRC, Wyoming, MI.
