Together they had 4 children, Marvin Dykstra (fiancé Tina) of Grand Rapids, MI, Larry (Rose) Dykstra of Wake, VA, Carol Babich (Mark) of Kentwood, MI, and Kathleen (Tim) Hopkins of West Olive. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Jay Dykstra, and her daughter Kathleen Hopkins.
She is survived by Marvin Dykstra, Larry Dykstra and Carol Babich and a sister, Betty Palmquiest of Gladstone, MI.
She will be deeply missed by her children, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Jean gracefully and lovingly tackled the challenging job of homemaker for many decades. She was an unassuming angel with an attentive appetite for her family that she deeply loved. She gave much, receiving extraordinarily little in return. After raising her family, she gained employment at Edison Christian Health Center and retired from there after more than 30 years of service. She also resided at Edison Chr. Health Center for the last 2 years.
Her celebration of life service will be held at Walker United Reformed Church, Walker, MI, that she attended for most of her adult life. On February 13, 2021 the family will greet friends at 1:00pm and all are invited to the service at 2:00pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to Edison Christian Health Center at 1000 Edison Rd. Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
